In April 1999, I founded Wine Adventures with the idea of importing and distributing French wines in Iowa. I moved from Ann Arbor MI. to Des Moines IA., where I found the availability of quality French wines at reasonable prices, seriously lacking. I never dreamed that in 4 years I would be selling my wine to retailers in 11 states.

My first trip to France was in 1984, and during that trip I met some French people who are among my best friends. During dinner at their homes they would serve wines from AOC’S that I had never heard of. The wine would always be of outstanding quality and it was then that I realized that there were many quality wines available in France, at very low prices, that were not available in the USA.

I rely upon these friends and a network of other contacts I have made in France and Italy, to recommend wines I should taste and vineyards I should visit on my several trips to France and Italy each year.

I select wines based on quality and price and I have personally visited each producer whose wines I import. Most of the producers have very small productions and I am limited in how much I can import. One producer will sell me only thirty bottles of the 1,000 bottles he produces! I will sell out of some vintages very quickly, however, I always taste the next vintage before I place another order to insure the quality for my customers.
