During the French revolution, land owned by the King and the Catholic Church was re-distributed to the peasants. It was during this time that the Tapon family obtained the estate that included buildings that were part of an abbey inhabited by Cistercian monks (Des Moines). The buildings date to the 16th century. The chateau is located about 20 miles from the beautiful village of St. Emilion.
The wine is a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and is produced fom a vineyard of 40 acres. The wine is stored in oak barrels in an underground stone quarry that dates from the 18th century. |
